Monday was a good day. While most were probably out at the stores returning gifts, i made my triumphant return to the bicycle. I slept in until 8, had breakfast then headed out for a nice 3 hour spin. Heading north i found a bunch of roads i hadn't taken before. With no big ring, or front brake for that matter, it was easy to keep things under control. Huh? Oh yeah, during my down time i took it upon myself try to repair a faulty Ultegra shifter by tearing into the shift mechanism, needless to say, i have a new shifter ordered. Regardless it felt good to ride again and all the funk and laziness that had built up over the past couple weeks melted away. Upon returning home i showered, ate lunch then took a nap before putting in a couple hours at the shop. Slacking is much sweeter after riding.

Yesterday T came over. He got the Off Road to Athens DVD for Christmas so we checked that out. I have to admit i don't really keep up on the national or international mountain bike scene but it was interesting to see what the top riders in the country had to go through to make the Olympic team 2 years ago. It also reinforced my complete lack of confidence in the self-perpetuating beauracracy that is USA Cycling. I recomendo.

Tonight i built my first wheelset under the instruction of Mr. Mark Purdy. Went pretty smooth. These are for my current project which i hope to be rolling in a couple weeks. Looks like a few rides going down this weekend, not sure what i'm gonna do yet. Have to see how the work/ankle/$$$ situation is.

My neighbor is Santa Clause.

After visiting family tonight i stopped at the gas station to grab some milk and beer to get through the rest of the holiday weekend. Unfortunately the cashier brought it to my attention it was after 9 and couldn't sell the alcohol. Bummer but no big deal. Not 15 minutes after i get home my neighbor stops by to wish me a merry Christmas and drops off a 6 pack of highlife. Niiice! Otherwise, it was still a good night spent with the relatives and tomorrow we're all going to my parents. I want to thank everyone for everything but getting together is what really counts. I wish everyone out there a Merry Christmas and thanks for stopping by.

I know, hella-crappy blogging lately. Not much going on. Daily grind then moonlight at the shop, attacking the pre-holiday build up regiment of kids bikes, hybrids, fitness equipment and an occasional singlespeed-beerrunner-junker. Shopping done, Christmas around the corner, hoping to ride on New Years. At least the days will get longer now.

DAY 10

Today i was out of the boot and hobbling around, even shoveled some snow at work. When i got home the trainer was taunting me so i laced up the high-top Shimano shoes and put in an easy 40min to feel things out. The ankle's far from 100% but it felt good to loosen it up. Hoping around Christmas it'll be strong enough to go out and ride. Tbone and i were talkin' about hitting the Bugline on New Years, we'll have to see how deep the snow is by then. Looks like some craziness is going down over at Creepyfriendly that may warrant a trip out to the madcity this spring. That's farther away than i can think right now. I gotta get to bed.

Been chillin'. Work, rest, sit-ups, work, work, rest. Today i could walk around a bit without the moonboot on. Maybe by next week i can start some light spinning.

(My) Winner of the week
Congrats to Nathan for turning Inter on Sunday. When i started racing you only needed 3 wins to move up, now you need 8. The Boys gettin' smooth and i'm sure he'll adapt quickly to the faster class.

Riders ready...

That's all for now, gotta get back to chillin'.
