LATE HILIGHTS

Saturday. Getting caught in a January downpour 15 miles in and cranking 20 miles home, checking out the racing swapmeet at State Fair Park, making a spur of the moment decision to go to the track, netting a win in a crazy Open main and snagging a 3rd in class with Jerry, Mountaingoat and Gage there to witness. Sunday, Jay raced on vicodin and took 5th, The Boy ran hard for 2nd, Russell showed up so i couldn't ride for sh!t, but atleast Jay and him were kind enough to push my truck out of the mud at the end of the day, d@mn Fords! Thanks guys. I know, i've been lazy, no need to rehash what others have already covered. Tonight i rode the snow covered LC trail, stopped at W&S, met Matt the new manager, had dinner at the parents, added some links. Same 'ol winter stuff.

FRIDAY SHIZZLE

I had a bunch of stuff to write about this week but forgot it all, so it couldn't have been that important. Last night Jay took a pretty hard digger at the track due to a faulty freewheel. Sounds like he might be down for a short while. If i know Jay, a little time off the bike will just make him comeback harder when he's ready to go.
Tonight i rode through a bunch of new subdivisions around here. It's like every new plot of McMansions tries to out-do the last. A few years ago $300k bought you a decent house out here, now that's what the "slums" go for. You're not mackin' unless you drop a mil+ in some of these areas. Crazy. My current favorite ride is the 1x1- 32:15 fixt/no brakes w/lites, fender and 2.35s. Slow=warm and the big tires allow me to blast through snow banks and explore the unknown whenever the urge arises. Hoping to break out the road bike tomorrow for a good day of riding then bmxican on Sunday. My fixed-road project is on hold until i find some time/$$$/ambition. Until then i got enough going on to keep it fresh.

ELKHORN

Woke up this morning, legs tight from the fixt miles i put on yesterday. After a few good weekends on the road i was up for something different. I wanted to race BMX again. Done, load & go. Hit the track, ankles kind of stiff yet but if i don't wreck on it i'll be alright. Core workouts noticely improve bike control. Bump & grind, in the mix all day but edged out of the main. Oh well, still had fun. Hung out with Jay all day. He pulled some fly track moves out for a 3rd in cruiser. Nathan, a 4th in open and just edged out of another win in class. Yeah, believe the hype. Tosacrosser's kid Sam laid the smack down in his class by a straightaway. Ahh, good times, good times.

Or in this case, a parking lot. F-250? Dang, must've been a rough spot to drive out of. I'm entitled to take humor in this since i too own a fine autombile from this manufacturer. Just like i'm entitled to make Polock jokes and Chris Rock is entitled to use the N word. Swap was alright, didn't sell anything and didn't spend too much so i can't complain. It was good seeing everyone there. Big thanks to Russell for parking my stuff at his table. Today i rode solo. The SE wind was vicious. I mean, pedal yer a$$ off downhill to hit 16mph, vicious. A little underdressed in the morning but when the sun came out, all was right. Post ride was some leftover spaghetti, garlic toast, a couple slices of salami and an iced mocha. Over 4.5 hours to do 80 miles?! Told ya i was slow.

9AM, meet behind Wheel & Sprocket in Delafield, (528 Wells St. & Hwy C) 60+ mi, "small ring pace", hit sub shop on the way back, if raining- fugetaboutit. So far, T & Russ are the only ones who've inquired, RSVP me, be prompt or be dropped.

RIDING W/T

Tonight Tbone and i squeaked out an hourandahalf ride from sunset to high moon. With opposing schedules its difficult to coordinate, especially weekdays, but the spring-like temps made for an inexcusable reason to get out. Bikeswap this weekend. I have 2 framesets and a 20" wheelset for sale. If anyone has a table i will gladly throw in a few bucks to display these items. Otherwise i'm just going to check it out and maybe pick up anything i might find appealing. Sunday, T and i are thinking of a 60+mi ride that winds down with a stop at the Picnic Basket in Nashotah. If anyone's interested i'll come up with details & stuff. Later

ROADSIDE

For a moment i thought i might've had one up on Russ. But the discs were pilfered and would have made little use for any possible makeshift repairs. He is right though, digital technology is becoming more prevalent over classic print media. Aside from that, i put a solid ten hours of country roads beneath my wheels this weekend. Good thing racing is 4 months away 'cuz i'm sh!t slow right now.

Crap, what day is it? All i know is saturdays ride left me with a sore throat and a wicked ear-ache that i'm finally shaking off now. Don't ask, i've been too busy. I still don't know what i'll be riding or what i'm doing this year. Chances are if you saw me somewhere last year you'll probably see me there this year. Nice to see i've already received a couple contributions to the porn site thanks to Goat and Russell. Keep 'em coming because who doesn't enjoy drooling over sexy bikes? Tonight i rode around in the dark. I forgot how relaxing and serene it can be. I just love riding, period, and haven't gotten out as much as i would like lately. Which means i don't have much to write about now so, Good night.
