Milwaukee Messenger Invitational went down once again yesterday! Started out with fellow Waukeshans Carlos & Michael along with Gus, Aris and Mark B. Last years champ James Lalonde threw together a fun route which maximized riders intimate knowledge of the city (which i sort of lack). 6 of us rode together well through the first few stops, before a couple wrong turns that set us back. Somehow while making a long stretch the north bound, we got split up. Hit the rest of the stops with some other guys and came in mid pack. Which actually paid off- being the dead middle finisher scored me a Vintage Schwinn Paramount road bike! Worth hanging around for the awards! Sparrow took the overall and Pegasus Katy won it for the womens, both well deserved! Thanks to James for setting up a helluva event, and my crew for riding together as long as we did. It'll be a couple weeks now before i get to take a good look at my prize. Today it was up at 3:30am and 3 flights later this is my current view..

Last night it was 53F. Today it was 25F. I rode rollers. Yes, I actually felt like riding rollers.

People are asking if I'm hosting any rides this weekend and the answer is, No. Sorry, that was a February thing. March is the time when other things start needing to get done. One of those things is trailwork! Now and and every Saturday until the first week of June, there are trail work days at the Southern Kettles. If you enjoy riding the Kettles and want to see the work down there progress, kick in a few Saturday mornings this Spring and help make the trails your own. We'll be meeting at the John Muir parking lot at 8:30am and working 9-12, rain or shine. Unless you've got some "Pro" contract prohibiting you from taking part in such events, that "training" excuse just won't fly around here. (See above) It's a good time and makes the riding afterwards that much more worth it! Need details? Just email me.

Most of you might be wondering how last Friday went down. Well, depending on who you ask you could get one of 14 different versions, some crazier than others. I won't bore you with mine but I will say it was pretty rad that everyone came out to ride the Fox River Darkway, eat burritos and check out the Sandcarvers while chugging Guinness. If you haven't found it already, some of the carnage is posted here. If you missed it don't worry, we'll probably hit it again later next month. Now, back to the training plan- I hate cold pepperoni.
